Work with excellence at your current job

When you give your all, even if it’s not what you like, it allows you to be proud of yourself and therefore to develop a form of well-being.
Working with excellence also includes being faithful in little things: arriving / starting work on time or even early, doing more than the bare minimum, taking initiatives, providing excellent work, stopping complaining.
Indeed, your attitude can influence the recommendations for your future job. You can have great qualifications, but if you are not fun to be around, that can be a disadvantage to you.

Keep your eyes on what’s positive at your current job

Look at the glass half full, not half empty: you have a job, a roof over the head, food to eat, a salary, good colleagues, a good boss, proximity to your home or the opportunity to work from home, vacations, social benefits… Your job cannot be that bad!
Focusing on the positive while you wait for your next job helps you hang in there.

Work aggressively towards your next career move

If your goal is to start your own business, find a new job, make a career shift, ask yourself: « am I working hard towards my goal or am I just moping hoping for a change? ».
You have to work hard with discipline, resilience, perseverance to achieve your goals.

Keep your connection with God tight

Instead of constantly complaining and moping to God, stay connected to Him. Fixing your eyes on Jesus (like Peter when he walked on the water) rather than on your problem is going to help you a lot.
It includes praying without ceasing, praising God as much as you complain, remembering your identity in Christ and His promises, declaring your blessing to come.
You can also do spiritual warfare prayers in case your situation is a spiritual blockage.

Ask yourself what God wants you to learn through this situation

Does God want:

  • to teach you humility, ie starting from the bottom and move up little by little?
  • to train you?
  • you to meet someone who will take you to your new job?
  • to understand and to trust that this situation is just a season to go through?
  • to take a leap of faith by resigning?
  • to develop your faith, your perseverance and discipline?

Examine potential natural obstacles to your next career move

Objectively ask yourself « why isn’t my situation changing? »
Apart from COVID, it could be:

  • lack of skills
  • lack of diplomas
  • lack of experience
  • your work field is hard or competitive
  • your resume is not on fleek
  • you don’t know how to convince in an interview

Also, please note that we often ask God for things that we are not even ready for nor aware of the responsibilities that come with the blessing.
For example, if you want to become a manager, you will have a good salary but also know that you will have to manage conflicts between colleagues and career moves, take quick decisions and be responsible for the consequences, work overtime, have less family time …

Get rid of frustration by doing things that you enjoy

It can be exercising, volunteering, doing something creative or just an activity that brings you closer to your professional goal.

Keep your eyes on the prize

Set yourself deadlines: do you want to quit your job in 3 months, start your business in 1 year … Having a specific goal helps you to stay focused and motivated to reach the deadline.

Set yourself deadlines :, do you want to quit your job in 3 months, start your box for 1 year … Having a specific goal allows you to stay focused and boosted to reach the deadline.
